In North Texas, a poignant reality has unfolded as one in six Texans face the daily uncertainty of not knowing where their next meal will come from. Amongst those affected, the most vulnerable individuals—children, the elderly, veterans, and women—suffer disproportionately. The Salvation Army of North Texas, according to the City of Arlington, is stepping up its efforts to provide for those in need with its Fill the Pantries event this Spring, dedicated to restocking Arlington, Mansfield, Dalworthington Gardens, and Pantego food pantries.

In an initiative to tackle this pervasive issue, the organization has arranged for four drop-off points, open to the community on Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. While the Salvation Army of North Texas is reaching out for contributions, shared details manifest a call to action: items that are in high demand, such as peanut butter, jelly, and cereal, among other non-perishables. Mistakenly believing that a single act of charity can address an entire systemic problem, local citizens are reminded that every single donation does matter, assisting in the alleviation of immediate hunger.

The drop-off locations cater to various points in the region. Tom Thumb at 2611 W. Park Row Drive in Arlington, TX, along with The Salvation Army/YET at 712 W. Abram St. in Arlington, will be accepting donations. Conveniently positioned, Walmart at 930 N Walnut Creek Drive, Ste 800, Mansfield, TX, will serve the Mansfield community, and for those in or close to Dalworthington Gardens, Green’s Produce at 3001 W. Arkansas Lane in Arlington, stands ready to receive goods.
