San Diego County Animal Services just stepped up its game by partnering with DocuPet. This partnership provides pet owners with an easier way to license their pets and enhances the value of doing so. As described in an article on the County of San Diego, the collaboration introduces a complimentary 24/7 lost pet service. This reduces shelter intakes by promptly reuniting lost animals with their guardians.
The new system is user-friendly, allowing pet licensing to be done online, by mail, over the phone, or in person. "This innovative system streamlines pet licensing and improves animal welfare across our community," Vaughn Maurice, County Animal Services director, told the County of San Diego. Despite the requirement for dog licensing and the current vaccination against rabies in San Diego County, many pet owners have neglected this critical responsibility. The revamped process promises a boost in compliance while simplifying it for pet owners.
CEO of DocuPet, Grant Goodwin, emphasized the new tags' benefits, saying, "Pets with DocuPet tags spend little to no time in shelters, compared to unlicensed pets." This comment, from a County of San Diego interview, reinforces the efficacy of the tags with unique codes linking to a secure online profile. As part of the service, if a pet is lost, owners can issue an alert, whilst anyone who finds the pet can report it found, triggering a swift response from the DocuPet team to facilitate a reunion.
