A routine traffic stop in Milpitas turned out to be anything but after a midnight officer from the Milpitas Police Department pulled over a vehicle for a violation near S. Park Victoria Dr. and E. Calaveras Blvd. on Monday night. The driver attempted to deceive law enforcement by providing false identities twice. One of the names even belonged to an individual with an active arrest warrant, as reported by the Milpitas Police Department's social media post.
Upon realizing his ruse had failed, the driver, a 39-year-old San Jose resident, was forced to reveal his true identity. He had an arrest warrant for domestic violence out against him. The passenger to his side, a 40-year-old also hailing from San Jose, was not without an outstanding warrant. The Milpitas Police described the situation as "Twice the criminals, twice the fun we guess."
An additional search of the car yielded a concealed, loaded handgun stationed strategically under the seat, accompanied by drug paraphernalia. These findings led to the inevitable: both individuals were arrested and booked into jail, facing gun-related charges and the service of their respective warrants. The driver's legal woes compounded as he faces additional charges for identity theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
