The San José Police Department, alongside multiple agencies, has cracked down on a suspected brothel operation, resulting in the arrest of two individuals, Tien Tran and Bili Ruan, both residents of San José. Following a three-month investigation that spiraled out of a prior SJPD METRO Unit case, law enforcement executed multiple search warrants across the city on March 28, targeting locations believed to be functioning as commercial brothels.
The sweep included properties on the 1000 block of Willow Street, 1000 block of Tully Road, and 200 block of N. Jackson Avenue, as well as a residence on the 1300 block of Bagley Way. Three suspected sex workers were contacted during the service of the warrant, with support and resources extended to them by Community Solutions. According to the San José Police Department, the SJPD Human Trafficking Task Force worked hand in hand with the Santa Clara County LEIHT Task Force, the U.S. Department of State in San Francisco, and the SJPD's specialized units in this undertaking.
Ruan was apprehended at the Willow Street location and booked for pimping. Tran, identified as the lead operator of these brothels, was not on-site during the raids but was arrested last Wednesday following the issuance of a warrant. Apart from the arrests, officials seized about $25,000 in cash and numerous luxury items, including designer purses and jewelry with an estimated worth surpassing $200,000. The probe into these activities continues, indicating potential additional charges.
