San José Police Department has apprehended two juvenile suspects in connection with a human trafficking case involving minors. The investigation began following a battery report at Silver Leaf Park in November of 2024, where a 14-year-old girl was assaulted and pepper-sprayed by an unidentified male. This victim, along with a 16-year-old female involved in the incident, were both identified as survivors of trafficking, as reported by a recent release from the San José Police Department.
After a thorough investigation spearheaded by the SJPD's Human Trafficking Task Force, two male juveniles were found to be responsible for trafficking both survivors. To swiftly bring the suspects to justice, detectives obtained arrest warrants by January 2025. Attempts were made to quickly apprehend both suspects, with the first being taken into custody in Morgan Hill on February 26 and the second in San Martin on March 31.
The two suspects, aged 17 and hailing from Morgan Hill and San Martin, respectively, have since been booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall. The SJPD has provided resources to the survivors consistent with the department's procedure in such cases. Meanwhile, the police continue to seek further information from the public.
