The Schaumburg Police Department has issued a public alert regarding a suspected child luring that allegedly took place last Friday morning, ABC 7 Chicago reports. The vehicle involved was a black Nissan SUV, and the driver was reportedly a woman who approached two children near the intersection of Slingerland Drive and Westover Lane.
During the incident, the children, who are 7 and 11 years old, were walking together when the suspect offered them a ride to their nearby elementary school. Running home, they reported the occurrence to their parents, which prompted a call to the police. According to details released by the police and obtained by WGN-TV, the suspect never exited her vehicle nor made physical contact with the children. Traveling north on Slingerland Drive was where the vehicle was last seen.
Authorities have described the woman: she's believed to be between the ages of 28 and 30, with a medium build, and sports straight brown hair with blonde highlights and hoop earrings. The black Nissan SUV she drove reportedly features a black leather interior and roof-mounted luggage racks. A composite sketch of the suspect has been circulated to aid in her identification.
The Schaumburg Police Department is seeking assistance from the public. The police have urged anyone possessing information to come forward and contact the Investigations Anonymous Tip Line at 847-348-7055.
