The search intensifies for 69-year-old Russell Trudeau after his boat was found adrift near Piney Point yesterday morning. Setting out from the Palmetto area on Sunday evening, Trudeau has been missing since, according to WFLA. A 17-foot boat belonging to him was located, but there has been no sign of Trudeau himself.
Multiple agencies are currently engaged in the search for the missing man, including the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Eckerd College Search and Rescue, and the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. The Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, employing a helicopter to find Trudeau, are working alongside agencies such as the Holmes Beach Police Department and Manatee North River Fire Rescue. This multi-pronged search effort was detailed by WTSP.
With Trudeau's disappearance triggering a coordinated search, his boat was first spotted on March 31 at around 10 a.m. The U.S. Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, at the heart of this response, has requested help from the community. "Officials are asking anyone with information to contact Sector St. Petersburg at 866-881-1392," reported ABC Action News.
