According to WTSP, the woman's attempt to avert collision by a horn's warning was met with the SUV driver unleashing a bullet into the Hyundai Veloster she commandeered, a startling response that bore the weight of sheer violence on an otherwise mundane commute. As FHP stated, "When the Honda began to enter the woman’s lane of travel, she honked her horn to alert the other driver, who responded by discharging a firearm into the right rear door of the Hyundai."
Mercifully, the occupants of the Hyundai—comprising the woman, a 23-year-old man, and a one-year-old child—escaped harm, managing to swiftly distance themselves from the assailant and to reach out to authorities. Upon responding, officers were able to recover the bullet, suggesting a tangible lead in the ongoing investigation.
