Last night, Seattle's Bitter Lake Neighborhood was pierced by the sound of gunfire, prompting an immediate response from Seattle police officers as they continue to enact their North Precinct Violent Crime Reduction Plan. According to a release from the Seattle Police Department's blotter, the event took place shortly after 1 a.m. on April 13. When patrol officers arrived at a parking lot on the 400 block of North 105th Street, they discovered multiple 9mm shell casings, but no victims were immediately apparent on-site.
While no suspects were able to be initially located and no arrests have so far been made, officers noted a nearby mailbox had also been struck by the gunfire. In what must have been a terrifying ordeal, a 32-year-old male subsequently walked into Northwest Hospital with a grazing gunshot wound to the head. He reported to the police that he was hit while driving in the vicinity of the shooting, stating his intention to just get home alive, as reported by the Seattle Police Department.
His condition was reported as stable, with his injuries considered minimal despite the close call. The investigation has swiftly been assigned to the Gun Violence Reduction Unit. Detectives have since set out to unfurl the circumstances surrounding the shooting, processing evidence collected from the scene and carrying out interviews, as per the Seattle Police Department.
