Latrecia Nicole Washington, 50, and Marshall Paul Garrett, 38, have been arrested in connection with the 2024 death of Alton Joseph Martin. Both are facing murder charges in the 487th State District Court. Their booking photos were released with the news statement, according to the City of Houston.
Alton Joseph Martin, 69, died from head trauma after an altercation on Gregg Street on October 29, 2024, around 5:40 p.m. Police responded to the scene, and Martin was transported to the hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics. He was pronounced dead on November 8, 2024. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences confirmed blunt force trauma as the cause of death, and the Houston Police Department's homicide unit is investigating further, as reported by the City of Houston.
Garrett and Washington were charged with murder on April 8 in connection with a violent disturbance at 3302 Liberty Road that resulted in Martin's death. Garrett was already in custody before the charges, and Washington was arrested on Thursday. Both are facing legal consequences for their alleged involvement in the incident.
