Last night in Long Beach turned violent with reports of multiple shootings, though thankfully without any fatalities. According to the LBPD Blotter, officers rushed to the scene of a hit shooting at East 60th Street and Atlantic Avenue just after 11:00 p.m. on Thursday. Two adult males, wounded in the barrage, made their way to local hospitals; one with injuries to the upper body, the other to the lower body. Both victims are reportedly out of life-threatening danger. The Long Beach Police Department has detectives on the case, trying to puzzle together the circumstances behind the gunfire.
That same night, less than an hour later, officers were called to a no-hit shooting in the 100 block of West 49th Street. While casings were found, no one was injured, and as of now, no suspects have been identified, according to the police recap. Moving northwards, yet another no-hit shooting was reported on the 5200 block of Atlantic Avenue; arriving shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers once again found evidence of a shooting, but fortunately, no victims. Investigations into the motives and potential suspects in both incidents are ongoing.
