A gathering at a Crosby gas station parking lot last night, reportedly intended for a benefit, turned violent. Click2Houston reported that seven individuals, ranging in age from 16 to 25, were shot after deputies responded to reports of the incident near Highway 90 at about 10 p.m.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez described the initial scene as very chaotic, noting the presence of an estimated 100 people. "It wasn’t anything violent that seemed to be happening. It just seemed that people were gathering here. We’re told it may have been for some type of benefit for someone, that they may have been raising money. Everybody just seemed to be having a good time," Gonzalez told Click2Houston.

Two victims were critically injured and flown to the hospital by LifeFlight, while five others were transported by private vehicles or ambulance. One of the seven people shot later died at the hospital. KHOU reports that as of now, no suspects have been identified, and the weapon or weapons used in the shooting have not been recovered.

Authorities are urging the public to help with the investigation into the tragic events. The Harris County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to contact them at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477. The investigation is ongoing.
