The folks who are always there to pick up the call, the unsung heroes of public safety, are getting their well-deserved recognition during National Telecommunicators Week. The Sevierville Police Department took to social media to express gratitude towards the dedicated professionals who are the critical link between the community and law enforcement.

Celebrated for their unwavering commitment to public service, these telecommunicators man the phones day and night, answering over 100,232 calls last year alone. Their role extends beyond mere answerers of distress calls; they are the initial point of contact, the reassuring voice in the dark tumult of an emergency. These professionals are now recognized as first responders, a well-earned title made possible by recent Tennessee legislation.

The SPD dispatch team comprises committed individuals who quietly shape the safety of their community behind the scenes. Among those celebrated are Stasia Carlsen, Kristen Loveday, Sean Dyer, Trudy Rioza, Erin Tyner, Naomi O'Shea, Lexie Pearl, and Mya Ouellette, each playing an integral role in the department's operations. Additionally, Robin Bushey and dispatchers in training Ashton Preston and Brittany Ownby are the newest to join the ranks of these key first responders.

During this week of appreciation, the Sevierville Police Department encourages the public to acknowledge these telecommunicators' tireless efforts. "Thanks so much for all the admirable work you do, day in and day out, we wouldn't be able to do serve our community without you!" the department's post read, urging residents to shout out to these individuals when seen out and about.
