A Shakopee man with a history as a registered sex offender is now facing federal charges for allegedly trying to lure a minor into sexual conduct. Marwan Adel Taweeleh, age 31, has been slapped with counts of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor, according to an announcement by Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick on the Department of Justice website.
Per the indictment, on March 18, 2025, Taweeleh was accused of attempting to engage a minor in sexually explicit behavior. This isn't his first brush with the law on such matters, as Taweeleh was previously convicted for soliciting a child for sexual conduct, a transgression that requires him to be registered as a sex offender. According to the Justice Department, Taweeleh made his initial appearance in front of Magistrate Judge John F. Docherty on April 11, 2025, and has been ordered to remain in custody awaiting further court proceedings.
“The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to prioritize the prosecution of sexual predators—particularly the prosecution of repeat sex offenders like Taweeleh,” Kirkpatrick said. The proactive stance of law enforcement in deploying undercover operations to weed out such individuals before they can harm real children was also commended.
Reiterating the commitment to addressing this severe threat to community safety, FBI Special Agent Alvin M. Winston Sr. asserted, "Those who prey on children will find no refuge from justice." The investigation that led to Taweeleh's charges involved concerted efforts by the Bloomington Police Department and the FBI. The case is currently being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rebecca E. Kline.
