Tragedy struck the South Linden area of Columbus yesterday evening when a person was killed during a shooting incident. According to ABC6, the incident occurred at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and 12th Avenue around 7:47 p.m., initially reported as a car accident. Columbus police soon discovered it was far more grim, as the event quickly spiraled into a shooting investigation.
The unidentified victim of the shooting was quickly transported to Grant Medical Center in hopes of life-saving intervention. As reported by NBC4i, the victim was in critical condition upon arrival but, despite the prompt medical attention, was pronounced dead less than an hour later, at 8:20 p.m.
No suspect information has been released as the investigation continues to unfold. Both the reason behind the shooting and the identity of the perpetrator remain veiled in uncertainty. Officers scouring the scene have yet to provide details regarding potential leads to the public.
In alignment with information obtained by WBNS, the city's public safety dispatcher confirmed that the victim was indeed shot.
