In an achievement that highlights the effectiveness of collective endeavor in public service, the Village of Shorewood's Department of Public Works has been distinguished with the esteemed APWA Public Works Project of the Year Award. This national recognition is a testament to the strategic collaboration between government and private entities in tackling the pressing challenges of urban infrastructure.
The award celebrates the Village of Shorewood's SEACSI improvements, which came as a response to the wake left by the ravaging rain events of July 2010, when sewer systems floundered and properties took a serious hit. According to a Village of Shorewood announcement, the project team's collective efforts over decades, embarking on rigorous analysis, strategic planning, and deft engineering, were crucial to restoring and reinforcing the local sewer infrastructure.
Prior to this national accolade, the SEACSI improvements had already been recognized at the state level, receiving plaudits from the Wisconsin Chapter of the APWA. This additional honor underscores the successful partnership that includes Strand Associates, Inc., Advance Construction, and Globe Contractors, Inc., who joined forces to renovate the vital, yet deteriorating, public works systems.
