Witnesses, who likened the noise of the crash resembling a "bomb going off," watched as emergency crews attended to the victims. Four individuals were transported to hospitals, while two refused transport after being treated at the scene. Among those taken to Tufts Medical Center, one was in critical condition, one in fair, and another in good condition. Another victim at a different hospital also sustained critical injuries.
The scene of the accident was closed off with police tape as officers shut down surrounding streets, including Harrison Avenue and Kneeland Street between Washington Street at Tyler Street, to manage the emergency response activities.
