
A special police officer has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault involving a firearm, which occurred at a grocery store in Northwest Washington, D.C. According to a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department, the incident took place last Saturday, while both the suspect and the victim were on duty at the store located on the 1800 block of Wisconsin Avenue.
The confrontation allegedly started with a dispute between the two employees. It escalated when the accused, 49-year-old Raeford Bush of Southeast, reportedly took out his issued firearm and pointed it at the victim. Following this initial altercation, there were multiple instances recorded where Bush is said to have made unwanted contact with the victim throughout their work shift. The victim, while not injured, took action and later reported the incidents to the police, as detailed by the MPD.
After a detailed investigation by detectives, Bush was apprehended yesterday. The charges filed against him include Simple Assault and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), suggesting a severe breach of conduct for someone entrusted with the responsibility of security and safety. The grocery store where the event took place has not been named at the time of the report.
