In a move to further open up the channels of information, the St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s Office has announced a free, instructional webinar on the proper navigation of official records. Slated for Wednesday, in line with Records and Information Management Month, the virtual event aims to smoothen the process of accessing various public documents. The announcement came via a statement released by the clerk’s office itself.

Brandon J. Patty, the St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller, emphasized the importance of making record access transparent and user-friendly. He said, "Our goal is to make access to records as easy and transparent as possible." The webinar will attempt to clearly define the often-blurred lines between public records, court records, and Official Records. Moreover, it promises to provide attendees with the knowledge to effectively navigate and utilize the online tools provided on the Clerk’s website.

The planned webinar is not simply a lecture; it involves an interactive component. The Recording Division will be online during the event, providing real-time assistance and answering questions that may arise about the services offered at the Clerk’s Office. This direct engagement with staff could very well bridge the gap sometimes felt by those trying to access public records without guidance.

Designed as a step-by-step tutorial, the Official Records Webinar will also offer insights on how to best take advantage of the Clerk’s online service platforms.
