Big news for St. Johns County’s inclusive sports community: The Field of Dreams Baseball League is about to get a major home field upgrade. The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners greenlighted the $1,513,800 expansion of the county’s disability-friendly baseball field, located at Aberdeen Park on Shetland Drive. According to a report from St. Johns County, this project was approved in a board meeting held last Tuesday and will kickstart with a groundbreaking ceremony set for May 3 at 11:30 a.m.
As part of the expansion, visitors can expect to see a larger parking area to accommodate more guests, and the addition of a new concession stand furnished with ADA-accessible restrooms. Saboungi Construction, Inc. was chosen to lead the construction effort.
