Heads up, St. Louis motorists: your commute may hit a few snags over the next week due to roadwork. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced overnight closures for northbound I-55 in the city of St. Louis. According to MoDOT, the shutdown will begin on Friday, April 11, at 8 p.m., as crews are set to lay concrete for the new bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad, work that's contingent on good weather.

The closure on I-55 is at Carondelet/River City Boulevard (Exit 202A), and motorists will be diverted via River City Boulevard to Broadway before being rerouted back to the interstate. MoDOT expects at least two lanes to reopen by 9 a.m. on the following Saturday, giving drivers a bit more breathing room.

But I-55 isn't the only spot with orange cones in the upcoming week. Route 67 (Lindbergh) in North St. Louis County also faces traffic constraints starting Monday, April 14, at 6 a.m., brought on by rehabilitation works on the Coldwater Creek bridge. Here, traffic will tighten as the road compresses to a single northbound, and one southbound lane between Sunswept Park Court and Candlewyck Court Drive, set to stretch through the end of July.

The advisory suggests that the affected span on Route 67 lies about half a mile east of Route AC (New Halls Ferry), MoDOT urges commuters to opt for alternate routes if possible. The imposed lane reductions are anticipated to cause slowdowns and potential delays for residents and travelers traversing through the corridor.
