
Last week, St. Laurence Catholic School in Sugar Land was dismissed early after boxes of ammunition were found on the adjacent church property. Sugar Land police, while providing scant details on the quantity, confirmed the presence of the ammunition as the direct cause for the school's closure. According to Click2Houston, the school administration decided to release students early as a precaution.
Concurrent reports state that the incident, which unfolded last Thursday, began with the discovery of a suspicious package. In a statement obtained by KHOU, the Sugar Land Police Department assured that there was no immediate danger, to the students, however, parents were still called to pick up their children as a precautionary measure.
In response to this potentially threatening situation, law enforcement acted swiftly, detaining a person of interest. This individual's connection to the ammunition discovered at St. Laurence Catholic Church, and, potentially the suspicious package, remains under investigation.
