A fatal accident occurred on State Road 408 in Orange County at approximately 3:19 a.m. yesterday. According to WFTV, a 2015 Ford Focus—mistakenly reported as a Ford Edge by other sources—struck a stationary 2019 Dodge Durango that was previously involved in a collision with a 2007 Ford Expedition. The Ford Expedition had a tow dolly attached and was stopped at mile marker 21.

The Durango and Expedition were stationary due to a prior accident, and the occupants of these vehicles were standing between them on the road. According to WESH, the impact from the Ford Focus caused the Durango to strike the pedestrians, resulting in one fatality and three serious injuries. The 35-year-old driver of the Durango was pronounced dead at AdventHealth East Orlando. Among the injured were an adult male and female, as well as a nine-month-old infant, all transported to hospitals with serious conditions.

Traffic on SR 408 East was closed following the accident but has since been reopened. The Florida Highway Patrol is actively investigating the details surrounding the crash. As per ClickOrlando, the 22-year-old female driver of the Focus, who was from Saint Johns, did not sustain injuries during the incident.
