A man implicated in a fatal shooting that left one woman dead and several others injured in Jeannette has been arrested. As reported by WTAE, the suspect, 27-year-old Maleek Green, was apprehended in North Carolina by U.S. Marshals and is now awaiting extradition back to Westmoreland County to face multiple charges, including those for murder and attempted murder.
According to details provided by the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office, the incident, which transpired on June 9, 2023, ended tragically with 25-year-old Brianna Lartz being fatally shot in what seems to have been a botched drug transaction involving a large quantity of cocaine, CBS News Pittsburgh reported. The scene spanned several streets, with evidence scattered inside and outside the residence at 815 Lowry Avenue. While authorities discovered Lartz with a gunshot wound to the head, Green and two others were also found suffering from gunshot wounds, and another individual was taken to the hospital.
Surveillance footage placed Green at the scene, with an unidentified man who remained outside during the duration of the shooting; said WPXI, the charges against Green include first-degree murder, murder of the second degree, robbery, two counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm prohibited. The Westmoreland County prosecutors, continuing their investigation, have also suggested that charges are impending against the second man, whose identity they have not yet released.
