
Thornton police have quickly responded to the unnerving incident of an attempted abduction near Thornton Middle School, culminating in the arrest of a suspect early this morning. According to Denver7, the department is set to share further insights into the case at a 1 p.m. press conference. Meanwhile, a suspect fitting the description provided by the authorities has been apprehended.
While the suspect is now in custody, Thornton Police have taken the opportunity to remind the public to remain vigilant. “Students and families are encouraged to stay alert and take simple precautions, such as walking in groups, reporting suspicious behavior, and reviewing safe walking routes," the police department expressed in a statement detailed by CBS News Colorado.
They further advised students to maintain a distance from unknown individuals or vehicles, to trust their instincts, and to seek help immediately if they feel threatened. Parents and guardians have also been prompted to discuss safety measures with their children.
