The Weymouth Police Department has been instrumental in the arrest of a man connected to a double homicide in Worcester, law enforcement announced recently. Shaquille Watford, 31, was arrested on April 3 at an address in Weymouth and is facing serious charges, including armed assault and firearms violations, stemming from a deadly incident last November.
In a coordinated effort between multiple law enforcement agencies, Watford, hailing from 38 Sterling Road, Brockton, was apprehended at 220 Lake Street, Weymouth. This arrest, which pertains to warrants related to the Worcester shootings and other unrelated warrants, underlines the commitment of the Weymouth Police Department to partnership and collaboration in bringing to justice those suspected of violent crimes, as reported by the department's social media post.
Watford is charged with two counts of Armed Assault with Intent to Rob, Unlawful Carrying of a Rifle, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Rifle in the Commission of a Felony. Additionally, he will be arraigned on two charges of murder tied to the November 21, 2024, shooting on Brookside Avenue in Worcester, which resulted in the deaths of both a male and female victim. The victims' identities and further details, amid ongoing investigations, have not been released.
The collaborative nature of the apprehension efforts, involving different jurisdictions and agencies, reflects a broader strategy to tackle serious offenses beyond geographical boundaries. "The Weymouth Police Department is committed to collaborating with our law enforcement partners to ensure that dangerous individuals are brought to justice," the department stated on their Facebook page; the effectiveness of the inter-agency cooperation in this case showcases their resolve.
