
The Metropolitan Police Department recently disclosed the apprehension of a suspect involved in a fatal Southeast shooting. On Wednesday, police were summoned to the 3500 block of 6th Street, Southeast, after receiving a report of gunfire. According to a press release from the MPD, upon their arrival, they found an adult female with gunshot wounds, who was later pronounced dead at the scene despite resuscitation attempts.
The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Taeje Butler from Southeast, DC. Officers at the scene managed to quickly arrest the suspect, who has been charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed. The detectives’ preliminary investigation suggests the motive to be domestic in nature. They worked quickly and efficiently to not only secure the scene but also to apprehend the individual believed to have been the triggerman, demonstrating a swift response to a disturbing outbreak of violence.
Arrested was 25-year-old Josiah Garrison, also from Southeast, DC, who was taken into custody on the scene without incident. The MPD has not yet released further details surrounding the events that led to Butler's tragic death. However, the department has communicated to the public that they are processing all evidence and information diligently to uncover the full story.
