A man was detained by the Pembroke Pines police yesterday after he allegedly assaulted a vehicle owner with a sharp object during what was believed to be a burglary. The incident played out in the vicinity of Northwest 119th Avenue and Northwest 14th Court at approximately 5 p.m., Local10 reported. Following the confrontation with the vehicle's owner, who caught the suspect in the act, the suspect allegedly used a sharp object to attack before attempting an escape.
Responding officers, together with K-9 units began a manhunt for the suspect, and after a search effort they succeeded in locating a person a few blocks away from the crime scene—a person whose appearance matched the description seen in doorbell camera footage, according to WSVN. The initial description released by police characterized the suspect as a Black male possibly in his teenage years, wearing a black sleeveless shirt and a mask, officials had still not released the identity of the suspect, Local10 adds.
The victim, after the alleged attack, was promptly attended to by the Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue and rushed to the hospital suffering from a stomach wound inflicted by what turned out to be a plastic knife; this detail was later shared by the authorities. The severity of the injury was such that the victim was able to be discharged the same night and is now recovering at home, WSVN conveyed in their reporting.
