A fatal shooting in Sacramento over the weekend has resulted in both the victim and suspect now being deceased. According to a social media post from the Sacramento Police Department, officers responded to reports of an incomplete call and a potential shooting on the 900 Block of Arden Way at about 1:30 p.m., last Saturday.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Authorities attempted to provide emergency medical aid, but the adult female victim ultimately succumbed to her wounds and was declared deceased on site. Homicide detectives, alongside crime scene investigators, promptly took over the case, processing the scene and talking to any potential witnesses. The investigators have since classified the incident as a homicide, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant for the involved suspect.
Later in the same evening, officers were able to locate a vehicle connected to the homicide through a traffic stop. The situation took a turn when they discovered that the homicide suspect within the vehicle had suffered an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the identities of both the victim and the suspect once next of kin have been notified. In the meantime, the police are seeking assistance from the public for any information related to the incident.
