Yesterday morning, a suspected DUI driver was arrested after striking a Washington State Patrol trooper's vehicle near Boeing Field on Interstate 5. The incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. and involved a third vehicle crashing into the trooper's patrol car while it was pulled over on the highway's right shoulder. FOX13 Seattle reported that the patrol car was pushed into another vehicle that had been stopped by the trooper shortly before the collision.
According to KOMO News, the driver of the vehicle that hit the patrol SUV was taken into custody and is now facing suspected DUI charges. While the circumstances leading to the arrest have yet to fully unfold, what is known is that the trooper's vehicle was indeed conducting a traffic stop when the incident occurred.
Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by anyone involved in the unfortunate string of events. This information was reiterated by WSP Trooper Rick Johnson, who took to social media to share photos of the mangled patrol car and provide updates on the situation.
