Two suspects have been taken into custody in connection with a home invasion in Malden. The incident, which occurred on Mountain Ave. last Tuesday, quickly led to the arrest of Yaritza Trinidad, a 29-year-old Cambridge woman, and Chawki Charbel Ibrahim, a 24-year-old Boston man, by yesterday, according to a recent update from the Malden Police Department via social media.
Per the Malden Police's diligent initial work, the suspects, caught by the police yesterday afternoon from the scene, were fleeing. The authorities managed to obtain a loaded firearm, a car description, and a general description of the suspects, supported by nearby CCTV evidence. In the announcement, the Malden Police highlighted the crucial role that the "Uniformed Division" played in swift and observant actions during the incident.
Following the aggressive distribution of preliminary information by the Malden Criminal Investigations Division to surrounding law enforcement agencies, support flowed in from the Cambridge Police Department and Quincy Police Department. These collaborations were fundamental in apprehending both parties, attributing to the quick success in this case.
The Malden Police Department has moved forward with charges against Trinidad and Ibrahim for home invasion and firearm-related crimes, reminding the public that "both individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law." The department has actively requested that anyone with further information regarding this case contact the Malden Police Detectives, particularly Det. Steve Mulcahy and Det. Kevin Russell.
While the investigation continues, the Malden Police Department reassure the community that this appears to be a "targeted attack, not a random act of violence," indicating there is no broader danger to the public related to this incident. The Malden Police Department remains committed to public safety and ensuring those who break the law are held accountable.
