A teenage hiker found himself in a precarious situation on the Koko Crater Trail in Hawai'i Kai this past March, resulting in an emergency rescue operation by the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD). According to a report from HFD, the young man fell and was unable to make his way down the trail, prompting a distress call and a swift response from local rescue teams.
The call came in early morning at 7:37 a.m., and HFD wasted no time, dispatching six units totaling 17 personnel to the scene—a clear indication of the seriousness with which they took the situation. The first responders arrived by 7:47 a.m. and promptly ascended on foot to reach the distressed hiker.
