Swisspod, a transportation tech company, is broadening its reach in Colorado Springs, as announced by Governor Polis and the Global Business Development Division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT). As a producer of high-speed vehicles and subsystems within the transportation industry, Swisspod boasts innovations aimed at overhauling how people and goods are transported. The company is recognized for its sustainable, high-speed Hyperloop transportation, which is emission-free and purportedly more reliable.

Colorado's leadership seeks to fully embrace transportation alternatives. "I’m excited to see Swisspod expand its presence in Colorado, the best place to live and do business. Colorado’s future is one where people can have more transportation options and expanded transit services at a lower cost. Swisspod will bring new, good-paying jobs to Colorado Springs while supporting the future of transportation infrastructure," said Governor Polis, as per OEDIT. This move is the latest effort following the Colorado Transportation Vision: 2035 initiative, which aims to slash transportation-related emissions through an enhanced transportation infrastructure and strategic housing developments linked to transit services. Swisspod's ambitious projects, including propulsion and levitation technologies, extend well beyond traditional transit systems, reaching into the domains of aerospace and automotive.

Swisspod's decision to situate a new manufacturing and assembly facility in Colorado Springs is strategic. The location provides access to a pool of talent, supply chain linkages, and proximity to crucial partners. This is built on the foundation of their existing hyperloop system prototype in Pueblo, Colorado. Swisspod CEO Denis Tudor expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, saying, "This is the home to our full-scale hyperloop infrastructure in Pueblo. And now, our newest R&D hub in Colorado Springs, a city that's on the rise, an innovation powerhouse packed with bold thinkers and exceptional engineers ready to build the future. Setting up an operational office and a manufacturing & assembly space here was a natural next step," as reported by OEDIT.

In terms of economic impact, the Colorado Springs facility is expected to generate 107 jobs with average wages that are 108% of El Paso County's average. Roles will span across engineering, production, operations, and more. OEDIT Executive Director Eve Lieberman weighed in, "Companies like Swisspod are creating the technologies of tomorrow while creating good-paying jobs for Coloradans," as noted by OEDIT. In line with this growth, they've garnered up to $918,000 in job growth incentive tax credits over eight years from the Colorado Economic Development Commission, contingent on fulfilling job creation and salary benchmarks. Additional incentives from local entities have also been secured.

Swisspod's expansion further bolsters Colorado Springs' reputation in the tech and manufacturing sectors. It's a testament to the region's diverse economy and skilled workforce, according to Johnna Reeder Kleymeyer, President & CEO of Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC. Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobalade echoed this sentiment, stating, "Their forward-thinking approach to technology and transportation aligns with our goals of creating vibrant economic growth, high-quality jobs, and positioning our community as a hub for cutting-edge industries," as noted by OEDIT.
