The City of Tacoma is stepping up to directly support minority, women, and economically disadvantaged business owners with a new program aimed at flattening the landscape of fiscal competency. In a hands-on approach, the city's Equity in Contracting (EIC) team has announced an in-person class focused on business tax matters. Scheduled for May 12, the session will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Tacoma Municipal Building. While the event is free, seats are limited to 25 attendees and advanced registration is required.

Tai Moultrie, CPA and co-owner of Higher Than Me Consulting, is scheduled to lead the upcoming class. In addition to the session, Moultrie will provide up to 45 hours of CPA assistance for participants. This program is part of Tacoma's efforts to offer practical financial guidance and support to small business owners.

The workshop will cover topics such as tax preparation and compliance, financial management practices, and the separation of personal and business finances. Attendees will also receive information on modern financial systems and automation, including their benefits and potential pitfalls.

Interested parties can find more information and complete their registration on the city's event page.
