Representatives from the organization have confirmed that multiple attendees are donning the storied colors representative of their sisterhood.
Visit Tampa Bay estimates that the conference is set to bring nearly $8 million in economic impact to the region. Alpha Kappa Alpha is renowned for its commitment to community service, a principle that is now going to directly benefit the local residents. During their time in Tampa, AKA members have pledged to actively combat childhood hunger by packing and distributing food bags to a local school. They are also dedicating resources to Metropolitan Ministries, an initiative aimed to assist individuals grappling with the harsh realities of homelessness.
Established by college-educated African American women, Alpha Kappa Alpha stands tall as the oldest Greek-letter organization within its demographic. It holds membership in "The Divine Nine" – a prestigious conglomerate of historically African American fraternities and sororities that form the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). In a statement obtained by the Tampa Convention Center, it was announced that the center is expected to host two more member organizations of the Divine Nine in 2025: Phi Beta Sigma and Zeta Phi Beta, come July, as detailed by the City of Tampa.
