A male juvenile, riding on an electronic bike with another juvenile, was critically injured and later died at a local hospital in Chino Hills, a release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department confirmed. The accident, which took place on Saturday evening, has raised concerns about e-bike safety and the importance of wearing helmets, especially among minors.

The event unfolded on Rock Springs Drive near Oakland Way, where the two boys, neither of whom was wearing the legally required helmets, were found by deputies from the Chino Hills Police/Sheriff’s Station and first responders. The young boy with grave injuries was quickly brought to Pomona Valley Medical Center, his companion was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene. However, despite efforts to save him, the 14-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries.

Sergeant Randy Naquin, who is handling the case, stated that an investigation into the exact cause of this fatal accident is underway. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department stated that neither of the juveniles complied with the necessary safety rules for e-bike riding.
