The Tempe Police Department is urgently seeking assistance from the public in identifying a suspect linked to the distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These incidents, which have been occurring since September 7, 2024, involve CSAM stickers posted in various public locations, including light poles and path markers, especially along the Western Canal from S. Lakeshore Dr. to E. Vaughn St., as well as spots in Mesa and Chandler such as Carriage Lane Park and the Price/Western Canal Path.

According to a statement obtained by the City of Tempe, the stickers have appeared "on light poles, signage, and path markers" and are printed on adhesive-backed paper that suggests a home printer may be involved. The affected areas have been targeted repeatedly, with new stickers surfacing rapidly within 24 hours after the prior ones are removed. This has provoked the department to actively request the public's help to swiftly identify and apprehend whoever is responsible for these actions.

As the investigation progresses, the Tempe PD believes that the individual responsible for these crimes might live in proximity to or frequently travel along the Western Canal path. Despite the ongoing efforts to locate this individual, Tempe PD currently has no suspect description to share.

The statement on the Tempe government’s website emphasized the gravity of the situation, saying: "This is a serious and ongoing investigation, and we need your help." Community members who have seen anything suspicious or possess any information are strongly encouraged to come forward and contact the Tempe Police at (480) 354-8900.
