Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti of Tennessee has joined a bipartisan group of 51 Attorneys General in a coordinated initiative to address unlawful robocalls targeting U.S. residents. The Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force has issued warnings to nine voice service providers that are allegedly transmitting suspicious robocall traffic in violation of state and federal laws. The Task Force has indicated it is prepared to pursue enforcement actions if the companies do not take action to stop the identified traffic, as reported by the Tennessee Attorney General's office.

"Stopping robocalling scammers is a noble goal that every one of us can get behind," Skrmetti affirmed, stressing Tennessee's commitment to this nationwide initiative, according to the Tennessee Attorney General's office. The coalition’s stated objective is to address the issue of intrusive robocalls. As part of its strategy, the Task Force has notified federal agencies, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), to support coordinated actions against robocall operators.

The targets of the Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force's stern warnings include a variety of telecom players such as Global Net Holdings, All Access Telecom, and Lingo Telecom, among others. These providers have seen thousands of traceback notices linked back to them, involving an array of scams including but not limited to, deceptive government imposter frauds and misleading credit card offers. The Tennessee Attorney General's office advises consumers to remain cautious when receiving such questionable calls, which have become a common experience for many.

Attorney General Skrmetti, a member of the Task Force, is actively investigating and considering enforcement actions against networks that continue to route significant volumes of fraudulent and illegal robocalls. The Attorney General's office has stated that service providers could be held accountable if they facilitate the distribution of these deceptive communications that affect the public.
