Three individuals were critically injured following a boat fire at Lake Travis Marina over the weekend. The fire, which occurred near 5931 Hiline Rd around 11 p.m. Saturday, saw a response from Austin-Travis County EMS, Lake Travis Fire Rescue, and STAR Flights, according to CBS Austin.
Upon arrival, two boats were already engulfed in flames. Brought to assist in the incident, three victims were transported to Dell Seton Medical Center for critical injuries. Flying through the dark sky, the STAR Flight helicopter transported one, while the other two were taken by Austin-Travis County EMS vehicles, according to the report provided by CBS Austin.
A subsequent investigation by the Travis County Fire Marshal revealed the cause of the fire to be a fuel leak in a motor yacht that led to an explosion. The Travis County spokesperson confirmed that none of the injuries were life-threatening and that no foul play is suspected at this time, as stated in a report by KVUE.
