An 18-year-old was fatally shot a block away from the Coney Island Boardwalk yesterday. The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. near Surf Avenue and West 36th Street, a bustling area often filled with locals and tourists alike.
The victim was discovered with a critical gunshot wound to the chest. Despite efforts to quickly transport him to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn, The young man passed away shortly after arriving, Brooklyn Eagle reports.
Authorities have not yet released details concerning possible motives or suspects connected to this event. The investigation is ongoing, and as of now, no arrests have been to formally make in connection with the shooting. The identity of the 18-year-old has been withheld pending family notification.
