The Maui Marathon will take place on Sunday. One southbound lane on Honoapiʻilani Highway will be closed during the event, between Kāʻanapali Parkway and ʻAholo Road, as reported by the Hawaii Department of Transportation.
The marathon will start at 5 a.m. in front of the Outrigger Kāʻanapali Beach Resort, which is also the finish line. Runners will follow the same route back, using the right shoulder of the highway. One southbound lane will stay open for traffic during the event, as mentioned by the Hawaii Department of Transportation.
A half marathon, 10k, and 5k will take place alongside the full marathon, with staggered start times. Runners in these shorter races will turn around before reaching Papalāua Wayside Park at Mile Post 10.5, the full marathon turnaround point. According to the Hawaii Department of Transportation, traffic is expected to return to normal after 9 a.m. Police will be stationed at key intersections, and traffic signs and controls will be in place. The Hawaii Department of Transportation states, “Please obey all traffic controls and signs and drive carefully near the runners.”
