For drivers who use Hess Road as a connector between I-25 and Parker, it's time to map out a new route. Starting April 3, Hess Road will be closed for bridge repairs, a disruption set to extend into the summer. Travelers will need to opt for alternative paths, either via Ridgegate Parkway or Crowfoot Road, as crews get to work on revamping the weakened bridge structure. "Motorists traveling westbound will not have through access to the Castle Pines and I-25 interchange," according to Douglas County.
As reported by Douglas County, the westbound side of Hess Road will be completely closed 24/7, beginning Thursday. This construction project is expected to keep the road under wraps for a solid 90 days. While heading south on Motsenbocker Road to Crowfoot Valley Road and then to Founders Parkway, watch for the detour signs aiming to reroute motorists north on Chambers Road to Ridgegate Parkway.
However, if you're heading eastbound on Hess Road, breathe easy, you'll still be able to travel from the Castle Pines and I-25 Interchange all the way to Parker without interruption. Yet, attention and care are required through the work zone, with county officials urging drivers to slow down through the work zone and watch for lane shifts.
The roadway surgery is confined to weekdays, with the hammering and heaving set from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. A second Hess Road bridge will also go under the knife later in the year, anticipating similar navigation headaches in Fall 2025.
