Tulsa’s Page Belcher and Mohawk Park Golf Courses are now under the management of Nick Sidorakis, from Southern Hills, and golf course architect Randy Heckenkemper. This marks a new phase for the city’s public courses, according to the City of Tulsa.
The City of Tulsa announced a new partnership focused on improving the city's golf courses. Mayor Monroe Nichols stated, "I couldn't be more confident in the leadership of Nick and Randy, and I’m extremely thankful to have one of the best parks directors in the business – Anna America – creating a bright path forward for the future of Tulsa Parks and Tulsa golf." Anna America, the City’s Deputy City Administrator and Director of Parks, Culture, and Recreation, recalled, "When we first talked to Nick and his team five years ago, it was clear they had a passion not just for golf, but for making public courses better." This partnership has already resulted in $700,000 in improvements at Page Belcher, including better-maintained acres, fewer obstructions, and redesigned challenges.
Mark Butler and Sidorakis have outlined plans to improve Tulsa’s golf courses. Butler, as Director of Golf, aims to expand educational programs for juniors, women, and novices. Sidorakis, who has a background in major league golf, is focused on increasing public access and improving the local golf environment. He said, "If I couldn’t play in a major, I wanted to run one. But now, I’m just as passionate about improving public golf opportunities here in Tulsa." Sidorakis also emphasized, "We want to make a difference in public golf. We want to improve course conditions, enhance service, and uplift these facilities to be the best in Tulsa – if not the state." They plan to make gradual improvements to the courses, team, and services for all golfers, as stated by the City of Tulsa.
