Joseph Rendon, a 26-year-old Turlock resident, has been convicted of murder and felony child abuse causing death. The victim was his 2-month-old daughter, Araceli, whose life met a tragic end just over three years ago, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney's official social media post.
The events unfolded on April 13, 2022, when Rendon, then tasked with caring for his infant daughter, brought her to the hospital claiming she had ceased breathing post-feeding, as District Attorney Jeff Laugero's announcement laid bare, the initial evaluation revealed no clear external signs of trauma, which initially cloaked the true nature of Araceli's fatal injuries and Rendon's confession during subsequent interviews, where he admitted to striking Araceli's head against a metal object several times because she was crying, that would eventually lead to an autopsy demonstrating multiple skull fractures and severe brain damage, conclusively pointing to blunt force trauma as the cause of death.
