A small plane crashed on Wednesday night between Raceland and Houma, resulting in the deaths of two people. The victims were identified as Lyle Pannepinto, owner of Southern Seaplanes, and Lauren Menkemeller, a pilot trainee with the company. The aircraft, a 1976 Cessna 210 L, crashed around 8:30 p.m. in a marsh area that was difficult to access, as reported by FOX 8 Live.

A plane that departed from Belle Chasse and was en route to Houma airport crashed, with the site located on Friday morning. Part of the aircraft was visible at the scene. Recovery operations were delayed due to difficult terrain, limited visibility, and weather conditions. According to Lafourche Parish President Archie Chaisson, the National Transportation Safety Board is leading the recovery, and investigators are expected to arrive on-site.

Only one wing of the plane was visible above the water when responders arrived, according to  WBRZ. A family member of one of the victims is traveling to Louisiana, and both the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash.
