A domestic dispute in Mount Pleasant escalated to violence yesterday, resulting in two individuals suffering gunshot wounds. The incident took a grim turn close to midday when a 23-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were shot in their legs within their residence. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, a 31-year-old woman was also present but unharmed during the altercation.
The events unfolded as the 31-year-old woman and her 32-year-old boyfriend, identified as the suspect, visited the older woman's home—the mother of the younger woman. Police reports indicate an argument broke out after the 23-year-old brother objected to the suspect's presence. After leaving briefly, the suspect allegedly returned and fired shots into the dwelling, hitting both the man and his mother.
After the suspect fled the scene in an Ford Fusion, emergency services rushed to the site and transported the victims to the hospital. Both are now reportedly in stable condition. A search for the suspect's vehicle later led officers to the 3100 block of Osceola, yet the individual's exact location remains unknown following a SWAT team sweep of a property on the 4400 block of S. Compton where the suspect was believed to be hiding.
The investigation is ongoing and authorities are urging anyone with useful information to come forward.
