The UNLV Runnin' Rebels, led by Coach Josh Pastner, have added Emmanuel Stephen from the Arizona Wildcats to their roster. Stephen, a 7-foot recruit from Lagos, Nigeria, has signed with the team, as confirmed by News3LV earlier this week.
Stephen, who played only eight games in his final season with Arizona due to injury, showcased potential in limited playing time. In just 24 minutes of play, he recorded 10 points, 10 rebounds, and additional stats. His performance caught the attention of UNLV, where he now looks to develop further under head coach Josh Pastner, as detailed by Sports Illustrated.
UNLV basketball coach Pastner announced the addition of Emmanuel Stephen, a 7-foot center known for his defensive skills. "Emmanuel is a great young man with a legitimate 7-foot frame and impressive length," Pastner said. "His shot-blocking ability, rim protection and rebounding will be extremely valuable for us. His defensive presence will also create fast-break opportunities for us to run," as mentioned by News3LV. Stephen joins the team to replace guard Dedan Thomas Jr., who transferred to LSU. He will play alongside recruits Mason Abittan, Tyrin Jones, and returnees James Evans Jr. and Jacob Bannarbie. The team is focused on rebuilding and improving in the Mountain West Conference.
