The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands is working to improve the sanitary sewer system in Nānākuli, O‘ahu, to meet City and County of Honolulu requirements and improve wastewater services for residents. The fieldwork will collect data for the engineering design of the upgrade, according to the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands.
The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands is conducting a project involving surface and underground utility surveys on public roadways and private properties with sewer easements. Homestead residents are asked to provide safe access to field teams. The project started in April 2024 and will continue through December 2025. CONTROLPOINT Surveying, Inc. is performing topographic surveys during normal working hours, Monday to Friday, and occasionally on weekends. Fieldworkers will wear proper identification.
Commuters through Nānākuli may experience minor disruptions due to occasional traffic control for fieldwork. The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands "highly appreciates the cooperation from homestead residents" in supporting the smooth operation of the project and the improvement of community infrastructure.
