Upper Arlington is now at the forefront of event customization, thanks to an inventive partnership between the city and local city schools. Beginning today, those who rent the Event Center at the Bob Crane Community Center will be presented with the chance to cast personalized drone-projected messages across the Upper Arlington High School Performing Arts Center outer walls. This high-tech feature was made possible by the handiworks of the UAHS Robotics Club students, as reported by the City of Upper Arlington.
City Manager Steve Schoeny described the initiative as a means to "make them even more memorable," referring to the views attendees enjoy from the Event Center. He envisions these dynamic, high-resolution projections as a bonus to the skyline vistas of downtown Columbus. However, the project's allure goes beyond visual entertainment - it also cements the city's support for educational growth and practical innovation, integrating real-world technology experiences directly into the student curriculum.
Upper Arlington's Superintendent of Upper Arlington City Schools, Dr. Robert Hunt, recognized the opportunity for synergy during the construction of the Bob Crane Community Center. "Throughout the construction of the Bob Crane Community Center, I have been talking with the City Manager about how we can leverage the exterior of the Performing Arts Center," Dr. Hunt shared in a statement echoed by the City of Upper Arlington’s announcement.
The initiative promises to enhance events with a unique touch, from personal messages to brand promotion. This inventive feature is expected to entice event planners who prize originality and distinction in their venues. It's an added incentive that the collaboration fosters a hands-on learning environment for UAHS students. They're not just crafting a project; they are creating an experience that expands the reach of their educational pursuit into the fiber of the community's celebrations.
Residents interested in bringing a distinct flair to their special events or seeking more information about this novel partnership should visit the City of Upper Arlington’s official announcement page to book their event or to understand the full scope of this technology's capabilities.
