Authorities in Central Texas have escalated their search for two young sisters who vanished under mysterious circumstances last week, with both an AMBER Alert and a specialized Athena Alert now in effect. According to FOX 7 Austin, the Temple Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating 15-year-old Aunastasia Herrera and her 14-year-old sister, Natalia Herrera, after they were reported missing from the Temple and Woodway areas.
The two girls are both described as Black females with black hair and brown eyes, Aunastasia standing at 5'2" and weighing 115 lbs., and Natalia slightly taller at 5'6" and the same weight, as detailed in the notices issued. Aunastasia was last seen donning a green hoodie, blue jeans, and black shoes, while Natalia was wearing a black puffy jacket, a black shirt, and black shoes, as detailed by FOX 7 Austin.
An Athena Alert, which operates similarly to an AMBER Alert but is restricted to a 100-mile radius, was activated due to specific conditions of the case suggesting the girls, though reportedly leaving their homes voluntarily, might still be at high risk for harm. "Due to the circumstances of the investigation, Temple PD believes the two girls are at high-risk," FOX 44 News stated.
Anyone with knowledge regarding Aunastasia and Natalia Herrera's current location is urgently requested to contact either 911, The Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500, or the Bell County Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477, FOX 44 News noted.
